St. Joseph School
Early Childhood Program
St. Joseph School Early Childhood Program provides students with a quality education that encourages growth, achievement, discovery and creativity. Our lessons, activities and projects are geared to be fun and interactive; enabling your child to acquire the skills needed in the years ahead. Through our Catholic faith-based program, we teach our children to treat others with respect, kindness, compassion and generosity.
Our Curriculum
The St. Joseph School Early Childhood curriculum is designed to encourage your child’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth and prepare them for the challenges of elementary school. We believe the foundation for a child’s success begins in these early learning years. The goal of our program is for your child to learn to:
Happily Ever After, our literacy program, was designed to create early and confident readers. The program has been successfully utilized for a variety of developmental levels and is a favorite with our students.
Our curriculum also includes several off site field trips that change year to year. Some of our past trips have included visits to a pumpkin farm, local theater production and community sites such as the library and firehouse.
Facilities
St. Joseph School Early Childhood Education is different from other schools because we have access to the facilities of a Primary Elementary School, while still providing a safe, comfortable and nurturing environment for our young learners.
Our classrooms, set apart from the rest of the school, provide areas for art, science, music and play and include developmentally appropriate toys, books and craft items. Teachers use “activity centers” that allow students to move to and from a variety of classroom activities that vary day to day.
Our students enjoy play time in both our outdoor playground located in the beautiful convent garden and our full-size school gymnasium during inclement weather.
Each class has scheduled class times in our computer labs and school library. Additionally, our Kindergarten classes also have regular class time with our Spanish language teacher. ·
Faith-Based Learning
What makes St. Joseph School unique is our incorporation of faith-based learning. Our world is growing increasingly secular so we believe it is important to incorporate God into our children’s everyday lives. Throughout the year, our students are
Our students also prepare and participate in class-wide prayer services, while the Kindergarten class joins the Primary and Middle School students at our monthly First Friday Masses and school-wide prayer services.
Family Involvement
Parental involvement is integral to our student’s success and we encourage a strong connection between home and school. From our Secret Reader program to monthly classroom family-involved activities such as Thanksgiving feasts and gingerbread house building, we invite meaningful parent participation throughout the school year.
Events
We believe that an important part of a child’s experience at St. Joseph School is belonging to a loving and vibrant school and parish community. We offer a wide-variety of events and social opportunities through the SJS PTA for your whole family including:
